The more things change …
Originally one of the Bildon ITB twins, this car was sold and later raced for a few years by others. In 2020 it came back into the stable and was converted over the following year into an SCCA H Production car. More info can be found in the H Prod blog.
Double Trouble - ITB 8v GTIs
Twin threat in SCCA ‘Improved Touring’ Racing.
For many years Bildon Motorsport ran two nearly identical Golf GTIs in the SCCA’s Improved Touring B class. With Don piloting the #50 and Bill the #55, multiple races and three regional championships were won. These cars really honed the race craft of the drivers and team in both sprint racing and enduros up to 24 hours in length. The experience gained in these cars would be stepping stones to bigger things for Bildon Motorsport in the years to come. ‘
ITA 16v
The SCCA ITA VW Golf GTI 16v.
This was a race development project that was never completed. A chassis was secured and initial construction began. It kicked around the shop for a few years but other priorities prevented the 16v from becoming a reality. Ultimately the car (as a roller) was sold to a school for a “shop” project. The engines however would live on as R&D test mules for the business side of the house.
