Advantages:
- more factory parts to keep my car “truer” to the marque
- both factory GT3 bars are hollow and MUCH lighter than the H&R bars
- both bars are fully adjustable unlike the factory 996 C2 bars
- bars are tuned for performance rather than “average” driver safety concerns
- relatively high cost compared to aftermarket products
- GT3 type drop links are required to connect bars to the suspension properly
The H&R bars did work. But they were very heavy and the rear bar was thicker than it should be for optimal track use. This may be fine for a “go-kart” type feel on the street, but our car is being tuned for maximum performance and lowest lap times on the track.
- OE 996 Carrera C2 24mm / 19mm Non-Adjustable
- OE 996 GT3 27mm / 21mm Fully Adjustable
Shown above: GT3 adjustable front bar (left) and OE 996 front bar (right).
In the photo above you can see the straight front bar design of the GT3, compared to the OE 996 from bar which curls around the control arm. This difference requires shorter drop links be used to attach the GT3 front swaybar.
In the rear it is possible to use the original 996 drop links. However the optimal solution is again to use an adjustable drop link so that you can remove any preload from the installed sway bar.
