The engine has been developed to the SCCA H Production – Level 2 ruleset. The rules allow for very specific modifications to major components in addition to many ancillary additions. While limited in scope, the changes can make significant improvements in output. Currently (2025) the engine is making approximately 136 Horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. This roughly equates to over 150 crank HP. This is on par to run at the front with other nationally competitive H Prod cars.
One of the biggest changes comes from the ability to take complete control over the ignition and fueling, thus eliminating all compromises the reprogrammed OE ECU previously imposed. This control of the engine management will also allow maximizing all gains from cams, compression, displacement, etc.We chose the Megasquirt MS3 engine-management system given the extensive amount of information and support available for these engines.
We then followed the H Prod rules “cookbook”:
We then followed the H Prod rules “cookbook”:
- Wiseco custom spec 82mm pistons – 12:1 CR
- Lightened and balanced crankshaft w/ K1 steel connecting rods
- Fully balanced, int shaft, crank, piston/rod assembly, clutch and flywheel.
- Web Cam custom camshaft with adjustable cam gear
- Interprep cylinder heads with lighter hydraulic lifters, custom seat angles
- OE valves with flow optimized multi-angle back cut
- Techtonics Tuning header w/ ceramic coating. 2″ primary extension for improved torque.
- Custom air intake from headlight with large, low restriction Green Filter USA filter
- Remote oil cooler
Added to this is a never ending list of small optimizations, in the areas of weight and friction reduction, heat control, pumping loss control, rotational mass reduction, etc. etc. Each significant change is followed up with dyno sessions to optimize the tune and quantify the power output.
