ITC VW Rabbit
The car that started it all: a 1977 VW Rabbit, purchased used in Florida during a university spring break. Initially driven by Bill at school, the car was acquired with a clear purpose in mind — transforming it into a race car. That transformation would be soon realized.
Built to SCCA ITC regulations, the Rabbit became the foundation for Don and Bill to both earn their SCCA racing licenses.
After a couple seasons of Don competing successfully, Bill relocated and brought the Rabbit with him to Atlanta in the mid-90s. Its pictured here in action on the Sebring club course. Tragically, the car met its end during the 1996 American Road Race of Champions at Road Atlanta. A sudden “micro-burst” rainstorm in Turn 12 caused a massive 15-car pileup, leaving the Rabbit and many other cars totalled.
