For 2025 an improvement in braking was planned. Not because the brakes were bad, but because they could be improved for better “at the limit” control.

Was undecided about the type of balance bar setup when a fellow racer sent a link to the Wilwood Tandem Balance bar assembly. Was not interested in doing the full floor or under dash type pedal assembly. Also looked at some of the servo replacement solutions out of Europe (OBP & Rix). The Wilwood unit makes it easy to access everything (unlike the OBP). Glad I went with the Wilwood.

A small steel plate was made for the firewall and to bolt the unit to. The bolt centers on the Wilwood assembly are a smidge narrower than the OE servo mount centers. This meant that the OE holes needed to be ovaled out just a smidge as well. After tightening the unit to the plate on the engine side and sandwiching the OE pedal assembly structure on the cockpit side, I found the assembly was surprisingly rigid. Given the warnings about firewall flex I was expecting the assembly to move. Due to this expectation I had fabbed up in advance a heim-jointed stay mounted ~45 deg. to a reinforced firewall plate. However after final I don’t think it was needed. Those who experienced concerning FW flex were likely those that removed the OE pedal assembly structure. Leaving the thick steel OE structure in place solved this.
